Minister of State for Planning & Local Government, John Cummins TD was joined by Fine Gael colleague, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD in Waterford on Thursday, April 26th for a series of engagements at local level.
The first stop on the day was to Dunmore East, as a meeting was held between the respective Ministers and the Dunmore East Harbour Master at their offices in the East Waterford village, to discuss a number of issues.
From there, Minister Cummins and Minister Heydon then made their way to Harristown for a tour of Delahunty’s Farm. Whilst touring the farm, Minister Cummins and Minister Heydon met with Waterford Fine Gael members and delegates from the Waterford IFA branch – before a Q&A session was held which allowed local farmers and members alike an opportunity to speak to MinisterHeydon, who also provided a wider update regarding pressing agricultural matters.
Following that engagement, the next item on the agenda was the Waterford Fine Gael AGM which was held at Coach House Coffeein Kilmacthomas. Minister Cummins and Minister Heydon both addressed the meeting as well as facilitating a further Q&A session with those in attendance, after the local Fine Gael Executive for the forthcoming twelve months had been elected.
Minister Cummins said: “It was fantastic to be joined by Minister Heydon in Dunmore East to engage with the Harbour Master and officials from the Department regarding vacant units in the Harbour amongst other items. We then engaged with IFA and party members at the immaculate Delahunty’s Farm in Harristown. It was also great to have time amidst an extremely busy schedule to meet and further engage with our members at the Waterford Fine Gael AGM.”
“Both Minister Heydon and I took on board concerns and sentiments expressed relating to many of the challenges being faced by stakeholders. Whilst good work has been done in many respects, we acknowledge that there will always be room for improvement. As noted during our engagements – this Government is committed to delivering for the people of Waterford and I will continue to do my utmost for this constituency which I am honoured to serve every day in Leinster House.”
